Rabbit hutch

Rabbit hutch

Super happy with the giant rabbit hutch we built!

Before I get to the hutch, though — LOOK at our new resident! His name is Juniper, he’s a German angora rabbit. ♥️

I designed the hutch and built it on the fly, but quite a number of rabbit lovers have asked for plans… so I created a graphic that may help. (Bottom of page.) It doesn’t include ALL of the measurements, but it has a lot more info than I had going into my build! I hope it helps.

Please note: this hutch is meant to house two bunnies, one on each side. As of now we just have one. I will probably bolster the separation between the two sides with another layer of wire and straw between. I will probably also be adding more boards to cover some of the floor wire. He has a large protected area off the wire now, but I want him to have some boards outside too.

Another important note: DO NOT use hardware cloth for the floor of a rabbit hutch. Only use 14 gauge GAW wire — it’s thick enough to support rabbits who have a lot of fur on their feet if they have places off of it to rest whenever they need to. That said, it still won’t work for all rabbits.

Let me know if you have questions. Also take a good, close look at the photos.
